A very poor week but bursting at the seams on Saturday and Sunday. And good to see quite a few Russian stations in the list. I used to hear them all the time a few years back, but not so much now, and always with the final phrase, 'Please QSL via PO Box 88, Moscow' (preceded by the obligatory 5 9)

During last week's International Lighthouse/Lightship Weekend, the Portuguese amateur radio association, ARVM - Associação de Radioamadores da Vila de Moscavide activated a lighthouse off Santa Marta for the first time. The team have now produced a video of the event

An International Space Station school contact has been planned with participants at the Girl and Boy Scouts of Maur: 'Pfadimuur', Forch, CH-8127, Switzerland on 22 August. The contact will be direct between OR4ISS and HB9TSO and should be audible over parts of Europe

NASA has completed a two-day review of space shuttle Discovery's readiness for flight and selected Aug. 25 as the official launch date for the STS-128 mission to the International Space Station

Congratulations to Drew Watson, VA7DR, who was recently elected British Columbia/Yukon Section Manager for a two-year term of office that will begin on November 1, 2009
